SAN ANGELO, Texas — The Heritage Park of San Angelo presents the second annual Christmas in the Park, with performances scheduled at different times beginning Saturday, Dec. 5 through Wednesday, Dec. 23, at 36 E. Twohig Ave.

“We had to go a little different route this year because the school buses that brought us children to perform last year are not available yet,” Candis Hicks, educational and historic curator of Heritage Park of San Angelo, said.

For the 2020 event, Christmas in the Park is honoring businesses, civic organizations and different entities within the community. Performers include Hospice of San Angelo and West Texas Guidance and Counseling staff, traditional carolers and dancers, among others.

Saturday’s performance begins at 3 p.m. and will feature a violinist. The Dec. 6 performance will feature newly-elected Congressman August Pfluger and his family, as well as the San Angelo Symphony Guild Ambassadors.

There is still time to sign up for the event, which is open to small plays or skits, church groups, families and Christmas poetry readers, according to Hicks. Hicks and Hank the Cowdog will announce the performers for the day on the park’s Facebook page each morning.

Free Christmas pictures will be available from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Dec. 21 and Dec. 23.

There is no fee to sign up or attend the event and pets are welcome; however, Hicks asks people to be respectful and clean up after the pets.

Visitors can sit along the wall and ledge and are encouraged to bring a lawn chair or blanket, however, glass is not permitted. Hicks said there is a lot of room to spread out and safety protocol will be strictly followed.

“Hank says it’s going to be a dog-gone good Christmas and we do from Heritage Park, from the bottom of our heart, especially after this year, wish you a joyous and safe holiday season and all of us a better 2021,” Hicks said.
