Abilene Christian University student tweets about racism on campus

ABILENE, TX — Tweets surfaced this evening regarding racial allegations taking place at Abilene Christian University.

The Twitter thread partially reads "Being Black at ACU," posted by Ammie Brooks, a graduate student at ACU.

Many students took to the thread to voice different scenarios where they experienced racial inappropriateness while attending the Christian University.

Brooks who is pursuing her masters in Social Work described a scenario where her professor came right out and said he was a racist.

In a tweet, Brooks says she reported this to ACU Human Resources, where they responded: "His behavior didn't go against campus policies."

We spoke with Ammie exclusively and were able to read the tweets and emails exchanged between campus faculty.

“I think it is the responsibility of the administration at Abilene Christian University to say, ‘this is not gonna to happen at ACU’ and to not just say that, but to put action behind it,” said Brooks. “So that when students are blatantly racist and when professors are blatantly racist, that should be a violation of your policy...”

A university spokesperson tells KXVA Fox 15 that they are looking into the thread of tweets. As of now, they have not gotten back to us with any other comment.

More information to come.
