Abilene Fire Department responds to travel trailer fire

The occupant was able to get out of the trailer unharmed.

ABILENE, Texas — At approximately 12:15 a.m. Tuesday, the Abilene Fire Department responded to a residential structure fire in the 1100 block of Houston Street to find a travel trailer and single family dwelling with fire and smoke showing.

Crews extinguished the fire, which caused extensive damage to the travel trailer and the adjacent house, according to an AFD press release.

The resident of the house was present at the time, but was able to get out without injury.

The American Red Cross was contacted and is helping the displaced residents.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
