Colorado City police officer arrested

Texas officer arrested for family violence.

What we know:

Colorado city's police Chief Charles Rice tells us Salazar's common-law wife had bruising on her body.

He says Salazar was given the chance to tell his side of the story and asked for a lawyer.

Salazer has been with the police department for 3 years.

He is currently in the Mitchel County Jail on a 72-hour hold.

His bond is set at $20,000 and he's been placed on administrated leave.

On March 15, 2018, the Colorado City Police Department was notified of Family Violence involving Gilbert Emmanuel Salazar that occurred during in the early morning hours. The Texas Rangers were contacted to investigate, and the 32nd Judicial District Attorney was notified. After an investigation, an arrest warrant for Salazar was issued and he was placed under arrest on this same date. Salazar was booked into the Mitchell County Jail for the offense of Assault – Family Violence Impeding Breathing and/or Circulation, which is a 3rd degree Felony.

Officer Salazar has been placed on administrative leave with the City of Colorado City effective immediately pending further criminal proceedings. Salazar has been an Officer with the Colorado City Police Department for approximately 3 years and was not on duty at the time of this incident.
