SAN ANGELO, Texas — The San Angelo Independent School District Facilities and Maintenance Teams were honored at a "Thank You" event Friday morning in the Central High School parking lot.

According to an SAISD press release, campus principals and administrative teams were on hand to show their appreciation for the hard-working custodians, maintenance, and grounds crews for their dedication to keeping students and staff safe during this year and for their support during the February winter weather.

“While many of us were hunkered down in our homes during the winter storm, our dedicated maintenance and custodial staff were walking our facilities twice a day,"  San Angelo ISD purchasing director, Jason Henry said. "Their actions allowed us to catch emergencies as they happened. These employees are the reason we were able to open with very little interruption.”

Each member received a breakfast sandwich courtesy of Whataburger, a goodie bag and water donated by H-E-B. Each goodie bag had custom-designed thank you cards created by SAISD elementary students.

The event featured live music from a local radio station, as well as from the award-winning Lake View High School Mariachi, Los Caciques, under the direction of Rosendo Ramos.

SAISD said it's thankful for the hard work all year long from the Facilities and Maintenance Teams. Students, staff and families appreciate the dedication that enables them to welcome students and staff safely to its schools every day, the release said.
