SAN ANGELO, Texas — A 17-year-old was arrested and is facing multiple charges after crashing into an unoccupied San Angelo Police Department vehicle and leaving the scene.

According to an SAPD news release, at approximately 12:20 a.m. Friday, two San Angelo Police officers were conducting a crash investigation in the 2100 block of North Bryant Boulevard, when a car hit one of the officer’s unoccupied patrol unit.

The suspect, who was driving a 2000 Ford Focus, then left the scene and a short vehicle chase occurred in an adjacent neighborhood.

The car became disabled after hitting a curb and the driver, later identified as Aaron Martinez, 17, was arrested without further incident.

The release said Martinez was charged with duty on striking unattended vehicle, evading arrest detention with vehicle, driving under the influence, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
