It’s time to get #FitWithFox #AmpedUp! The CDC said the U.S. has seen an increase in the flu over the past week.

While it may be hot outside, it’s still flu season. Prevention is key.

Health professionals say even though it is February, you still can and should get a flu shot.

Some of the most common places to get the flu? At your work, any social gathering, playgrounds and classrooms.

But just how is the virus spread and how far away can it reach?

“Influenza is a virus. It is spread through droplets, normally when you sneeze, cough, talk, laugh, the virus is spread in that way. It can actually spread up to six feet from where you’re standing,” Debra Sosolik, an RN/FNP-C at La Esperanza Clinic, said.

Some more tips for prevention: wash your hands frequently and cough in a tissue or in your elbow.
