Working out at the gym is not as popular for women as it is for men.
A poll conducted by the British Mental Health Charity Mind suggested two out of three women feel self-conscious about their body when working out in public.
“Take three breaths.”
Women who work out — or why they don’t. Local ladies had one common answer.
“It’s intimidating because you have a lot of body-building.”
“I was intimidated by the people working out and what they looked like.”
“More intimidated than men.”
Another popular hold-back?
“Knowledge they don’t know what to do.”
Which can be easily resolved by hiring a coach.
“It’s always better to have someone with you that has the knowledge and can guide you through a workout safely,” Nora Cutrer, a personal trainer at Fitness Untied, said.
The intimidation does not last.
The result when women face their fear and step into a gym…
“I want to be here. I look forward to my workouts.”
A message from a trainer: “Don’t be scared. Work out!”
It can’t hurt.
