Abilene-Taylor County Public Health District confirms 389th COVID-19-related death Friday

The health district reported six new confirmed COVID-19, nine hospitalizations and three recoveries.

ABILENE, Taylor County — The Abilene-Taylor County Health District confirmed the 389th COVID-19-related death - a woman in her 90s - in Taylor County Friday.

The health district reported six new confirmed COVID-19 cases - two PCR and four antigen.

Three recoveries were also reported, bringing the total number of recoveries to 14,593.

Nine hospitalizations were included in the report.

As of April 2, Taylor County has administered 55,368 PCR and 94,086 antigen tests. Of those tests, 7,137 PCR and 8,274 antigen tests were confirmed cases.

The health district said the high increase in the number of daily tests is the result of testing at the Abilene State Supported Living Center. The center regularly tests residents and staff then reports those numbers to the health district.

Additionally, 48,231 negative PCR and 85,812 negative antigen test results reported.
