San Angelo is beginning to thaw out after the recent ice we received. But did any of the ice affect the Concho River?

When ice melts after freezing temperatures, the water then becomes storm water
When it gets into the runoff that water can collect dirt and go into the Concho River ultimately contaminating our water.
The storm water team reports the Concho River water is fine.
The river water is used by wildlife, aquatic life, and of course human life

Storm Water Program manager Shannon McMillan says, “that is our drinking water source and so the cleaner it is before it gets to the water treatment plant, then the less it costs to treat it and the better our quality of water is the better our community is the cleaner our water is for everyone.”

The storm water program has been in effect for about 10 years now,
their goal is to inform and protect the community.
