Free breakfast, lunches for all Abilene ISD students on all campuses for 2022-23 school year

The Community Eligibility Provision allows schools to offer free meals to children and eliminates meal applications for free, reduced-price and paid student meals.

ABILENE, Texas — Abilene Independent School District students on each of the ISD's campuses will have free breakfast and lunches provided by the district throughout the 2022-2023 school year.

The district is able to provide the meals because it meets qualifications for the Community Eligibility Provision, a non-pricing meal service option for school districts under the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s National School Lunch and Breakfast Programs.

The CEP allows schools to offer free meals to children and eliminates meal applications for free, reduced-price and paid student meals.

The new approach reduces burdens for AISD families and school leaders while helping students to receive nutritious meals so they can be their best in the classroom and beyond.
