The San Angelo Police Department has seen an increase in thefts and urges residents to take extra precaution.

Police are seeking any information on the thieves who burglarized several auto dealerships. The vandals forced entry into secured areas, jacked up the vehicles and removed tires, wheels, rims and in-bed tool boxes.

Authorities have also noticed several gun thefts in the past three days. The majority of these cases involved vehicle break-ins.

SAPD said stolen guns are often sold and traded for drugs or used in other robberies. They remind everyone to not leave guns in glove boxes and to remove them entirely from your vehicle.
