Paint Rock ISD School Board VP indicted for crimes against a child

A Paint Rock school board member was arrested Wednesday and has already made his $50,000 bond for some serious accusations.

A Paint Rock school board member has been indicted on three charges of crimes against a child, but not only is Daniel Bennett on the school board, he's the Vice President. That title confirmed by Paint Rock ISD's superintendent.

Daniel bennet, who is 42-years-old now, was indicted by a Concho County Grand Jury for one count of continuous sexual abuse of a child and two counts of sexual assault of a child.

The indictment states that the alleged abuse began in 2009 when the victim was around 14 years old and lasted until 2011. We did reach out to Paint Rock ISD.

Our phone call was answered by the superintendent but he did not want to comment over the phone. He did release this statement from the school attorney.

It says that school administrators learned of the indictments and arrest at around 9:30 a.m. on Wednesday. It goes on to say that the victim came forward in 2016 when she was 19 years old and had already graduated and none of the alleged crimes happened on school property or during school events.

It also says that Bennet has been on the paint rock school board since 2006, and has served those 12 years consecutively. He also serves on the Concho County Appraisal District's board.

The statement says that Bennett is a local contractor and formerly employed the victim's family members.

It also includes that Bennett has contacted the president of the school board and said “he would like to remain on the school board but will not be attending meetings until his name is cleared from the accusation. He will also not be on campus until this matter is resolved.”

The Texas Rangers are leading this investigation.
