Just in time for November rain. On Tuesday, San Angelo City Council approved the purchasing of some properties that will lessen the threat of flooding along Avenue P.
City engineers plan to build a detention pond that should hold up to 5.25 in. of rain water over a 24 hour span.
This pond will prevent storm waters from rushing down Avenue P and flooding homes.
After the pond is built, the City will look to reshape the street to keep floodwaters in the middle of the road instead of draining outward into residents properties.
San Angelo City Council says this will hopefully be a 25 year fix.
