The Tom Green County Sheriff's office is looking for volunteers this spring

The volunteers will assist law enforcement on the scene with crisis and crimes as well as work with victims and survivors.

The crisis intervention unit says about 80 percent of the cases will deal with family violence.

Rita Guthrie Crisis unit coordinator says, “when people are at the lowest points of their lives, and they don't know where they are going to go or where they are going to turn to get help, it's always good to know that someone cares about them.”

All volunteers will take a 36 hour training class before going out with first responders.

The training starts on January 27th and runs through March 3rd.
