Anson hosts Stamford for 95th meeting

One of the longest match-ups in the history of Texas high school football

STAMFORD, Texas — The Stamford Bulldogs and the Anson Tigers meet Friday for the 95th meeting between the two teams.

The history is strong, the tradition is special and the rivalry never gets old. Most of the student-athletes have grown up playing against each other since the elementary school days.

Just 16 miles away from each other, the two schools know each other well.

"Our kids know their kids, our coaches know their coaches. It's a great friendship until the ball kicks off and then after that, the friendships can continue," Stamford head coach Ronnie Casey said.

Coach says that years ago the stadiums were filled for this match-up, the talent was high and not much has changed since then.

"You're friendship with them and getting to knock heads with some of your buddies down the road is always a fun atmosphere," senior Carson Carver added.

Anson will host Stamford Friday for both teams first district match-up this season and for the FOX Football Live game of the week.
