Barrett Phillips was born and raised in Arkansas. Growing up in tornado alley, Barrett developed a passion for meteorology at the very young age of 8 years old.
Barrett studied at the University of Oklahoma, where he earned degrees in Meteorology, Climate, and Communication. During that time he also became a certified storm chaser. His senior year, Barrett had two weather internships at KOKH Fox 25 in Oklahoma City. While working at KOKH, Barrett experienced the Moore, OK and El Reno, OK tornadoes in May, 2013, along with one of the worst blizzards to ever affect the state of Oklahoma.
After graduation, Barrett became the Weekend Meteorologist for KOTA-Territory News in Rapid City, South Dakota and the Black Hills. During the week, he reported weather events live from the field. Always living in tornado alley, Barrett has experienced tornado outbreaks, blizzards, and everything in between.
Barrett's hobbies are fishing, hunting, cars, and college football. He is very blessed to be living in Texas and is proud to call west Texas his home.
