KIDY - TV History

KIDY - TV signed on the air May 12, 1984 and became a charter member of the FOX Network in 1986. Located on the Concho River at 406 South Irving, KIDY - TV has, from the beginning, felt a strong commitment to the Concho Valley Area, the citizens and the business community.

There was a great source of pride in being San Angelo’s only independent television station as it gave them the advantage of planning programming which reflects the interests and requests of the viewers. In lieu of a news program, the station has always kept their viewers informed of local events and weather by updates and remotes as well as quarter-hour temperature information. KIDY has worked closely with local agencies and associations to depict their needs in well developed public service announcements. KIDY has the flexibility to place these announcements within certain programs that are conducive for that particular public service announcement.

KIDY’s affiliation in the first years with the FOX Network allowed local and national favorites from the beginning such as “Married with Children”, “The Simpson’s”, and “America’s Most Wanted”. As FOX’s program continued to grow, so did KIDY - TV. FOX Network quickly expanded its programming to five nights and then on to the full seven nights per week.

With the expansion of the programming and the commitment to the community, the KIDY - TV staff and management anticipate a secure and successful future.
