(MYFOX NATIONAL) - A South African woman who stabbed her boyfriend in the back after she thought he was cheating on her, now plans to marry him, according to the Independent Online .
Candy Lyons, a 38-year-old mother of two, caught her boyfriend, Robert Goldthorpe, with his pants down while he was with her best friend. Goldthorpe, however, claimed he was not cheating on Lyons. Instead he said he was showing Lyons' best friend an old gardening injury on his upper thigh.
Lyons was so outraged when she saw Goldthorpe with his pants down she stabbed him in the back with a carving knife and left him on the kitchen floor in a pool of blood.
Goldthorpe, who needed nine stitches, said he was "shocked by what happened."
"It was not like Candy to do anything like that. I don't think this would ever happen again," he said. "I love Candy dearly and I want to marry her."
Lyons, who had no previous convictions, received a suspended one-year jail term after she had admitted wounding Goldthorpe while she was drunk.
The couple plan to get married on March 20, 2010 -- exactly one year after the attack.
Earlier this month, a man left his new bride in an airport bathroom on the way home from their honeymoon, and last month a Polish couple living in Germany decided to end their marriage just hours after the ceremony .
