SAN ANTONIO - A new nonprofit group helps single parents with free cars.
Belinda, a domestic violence survivor and single mother of two special needs children, is just one of the people who inspire the nonprofit group Driving Single Parents.
Founder Cindy Whitteman was once a single parent herself and says she knows how crucial transportation can be for struggling moms and dads.
“It feels so good to help somebody who wants to help themselves and just needs a small leg up. It’s not a handout, it’s a leg up,” Whitteman said.
Proceeds from an event and giveaway this weekend went back to the organization to eventually reward another single parent with a free car.
