Arrest made in shooting of 18-year-old San Angelo man

A San Angelo man, Xavior Arzola, 19, was arrested Wednesday in connection to the fatal shooting of Victor Omar Duarte, 18.

SAN ANGELO, TX - Xavior R. Arzola, 18, of San Angelo, has been charged with manslaughter after the fatal shooting of Victor Omar Duarte, 18, Wednesday, according to the San Angelo Police Department.

After 5:30 a.m., San Angelo police were called to a residence located in the 1800 block of Edmund Boulevard after a report of a shooting victim.

Police located Duarte, deceased, inside the residence. 

Less than a mile away authorities arrested Arzola on the 2200 block of Raney Street. 

A witness told police that "several occupants fled the residence after the shooting," according to a press release. 

While this is still an ongoing investigation, "detectives know Duarte was inside the residence with Arzola and several other occupants when Arzola recklessly handled a firearm and caused it to discharge and strike Duarte," according to SAPD. 

It is believed that drugs played a role in the shooting.

The police said this is an active investigation and that no additional information has been released.
