SAN ANGELO, TX - For many the Vietnam memorial stands not only as a tribute to the American heroes we lost but also serves as a place to leave mementos of loved ones.
The tradition of leaving behind mementos has been going on since the Wall was dedicated in 1982.
But recently people have been leaving more than just objects now families are leaving the cremated remains of veterans which the park service says it just can't handle.
Wall Spokesperson says, "We're not a cemetery or a mausoleum. We're simply not equipped to handle the long-term storage of human remains."
However this decision is upsetting some who just want to pay one final tribute to their fallen heroes.
