SAN ANGELO, TX - It's not your typical yoga, it's yoga on a surfboard.
It's called "SUP yoga" which stands for stand up paddle board yoga.
An instructor in the Concho Valley started it two years ago.
Fox News First's Monica Quintero and Producer Mariah Fernandez tried their hand at it.
The participants grab their surfboards and carefully got on.
Fortunately, it was a calm day at Lake Nasworthy.
"I want people to have a deeper appreciation for San Angelo, the beauty that we have here," Kim Adair, Pura Flow Yoga owner and SUP instructor, said. "I want people to feel that they are capable of doing anything. I just want people to feel empowered."
Adair starts off easy and works her way up to a more difficult skill level.
Then, it's time to see if Quintero and Fernandez can handle the challenge.
"I could feel myself shaking a lot like I was going to fall," Fernandez said. "I've tried yoga before, but this was a complete different experience for me. I felt like I was in a different world."
Even Quintero stepped out of her comfort zone after Adair made a headstand look so easy.
It wasn't as easy for her, but she finally got up and held it for almost 30 seconds before she cam crashing down.
"You did awesome and I love your sense of adventure," said Adair. "That's kind of how you have to be out here, just an open mind and go with the flow."
The yoga instructor of 15 years is thankful many in our community seem to be embracing this unique workout.
"It was kind of a leap of faith if anyone would want to come out here and do this with me and would get excited about it the way that I am. I feel that the interest has been overwhelmingly positive and I'm just so grateful for that," said Adair.
Adair typically holds weekend classes and they will last through Labor Day.
