SAN ANGELO, TX - With the recent spike in flu cases in Texas many are wondering how to keep their beloved pets from getting sick.
Well, you can rest easy.
Veterinarian Ben Inmin says dogs and cats *can not* catch the flu that humans do.
While dogs *can catch a flu, it is specific to animals and doctor Inman says there have been very few cases reported in Texas.
Inman says, “you’re really only at risk if your dogs are going to one of the large metropolitan areas, staying in large kennel boarding facilities, a dog show, and areas where dogs are going to be congregated in large areas “
Inman says there is a vaccination to prevent your pets from catching the flu, however he only recommends it if you're traveling to large cities or places where your pets will be exposed to a large amount of other animals.
