Local man dies after 'falling' off overpass

According to an eye witness, a man fell off an overpass on Loop 306. The San Angelo Police Department said the circumstances around this man's death has not been confirmed.

SAN ANGELO, TX - At approximately 9 a.m. on Oct. 3, San Angelo Police Department was dispatched to the area of North Bryant Blvd. and West 6th St. for the report of an unconscious person. 

An eyewitness told police they saw the man fall from the overpass. The person was identified as Edward Vigil, 52, of San Angelo.

Virgil was found on the ground near the overpass with no vital signs and apparently died as a result of injuries he sustained from falling off the overpass.

The circumstances around Vigil's death have not been confirmed, according to a SAPD press release. 

The Justice of the Peace Eddie Howard formally pronounced Vigil deceased. Vigil's next of kin was notified. 

According to SAPD, investigators with the Department’s Criminal Investigations Division are conducting a follow up investigation. At this time, there are no signs of foul play.
