Only government agencies are allowed near devastated areas

Search and rescue teams are currently helping victims of Hurricane Harvey. Salvation Army of San Angelo says to hold off donating items until relief teams are able to enter the disaster zones and help.

CONCHO VALLEY, TX - In Concho Valley, many already feel the need to give and donate. However, The Salvation Army of San Angelo said to hold off. They said only government agencies are allowed near the area as of now.

Once the rains have lifted, organizations like The Salvation Army will be able to enter and help.

Major Tim Grinder with The Salvation Army said, "I tell all of you to wait, hold on, let the professionals do their job, let the search and rescue be complete. No one is allowed down there."

If anyone is interested in helping, The Salvation Army said they will be looking for volunteers, if their canteen, a mobile relief vehicle, receives orders to send aid to Houston.

Other organizations such as The American Red Cross are also taking monetary donations.
