State Representative Drew Darby talks legislation at luncheon

Drew Darby was featured at the Chamber of Commerce luncheon. He spoke about the 2017 regular and special session.

AUSTIN - San Angelo's Chamber of Commerce hosted a luncheon that featured Texas State Representative Drew Darby. During his speech, he focused on the 170 days legislation spent in the regular and special sessions.

Darby said legislatures were able to add money to Child Protective Services (CPS) and foster care, as well as, support education and community colleges.

This was a good ending to sessions that Darby said started off rocky.

"I think we're in good shape. We didn't go into the session that way, but when we came out, I was very pleased how we did that. We were able to help the railroad commission get out of sunset. We were able to pass some reforms that were necessary," Darby said.

Darby also spoke about the lasting effects Texas would see from Hurricane Harvey. He told the audience, legislators were looking to get information for long term solutions.
