SAN ANGELO, TX - NEW HOURS
Raw 1899, an art lounge at 38 North Chadbourne Street, will open Wednesdays beginning January 3, expanding its hours of operation from three days to four, and it will open later on Saturdays. The hours will be Wednesdays, 4 to 9 p.m.; Thursdays and Fridays, 4 to 10 p.m., and Saturdays 2 to 10 p.m.
Wednesday, January 3 to Saturday, January 27
The first exhibit of 2018 at Raw 1899 will be local photographer James Hall’s powerful images of the homeless. It is titled “Sin Hogar,” which means homeless in Spanish. The artist reception, which is open to the public, will take place Thursday, January 4, 6 to 8 p.m.
James studied at the New York Institute of Photography and is a member of the Professional Photographers of America. In 2011, he began taking photos of the homeless, with their permission and compensation. His work is rooted in his own past experiences of lostness and a deep compassion for those who are living through similar circumstances. “When photographing them,” James said, “I wanted each to tell their story with their eyes.”
His photography has appeared in numerous magazines and online publications around the world, including The Wall Street Journal, U.S. News and World Report, and Men’s Health.
The “Sin Hogar” exhibit features James’ digital photography printed on 30” x 40” aluminum.
For the duration of the show, donations will be accepted at Raw 1899 for “Somebody’s Rusty,” a nondenominational ministry based out of San Angelo’s First United Methodist Church that supports area organizations dedicated to helping our city’s homeless men and women.

Pat enjoys a strong following of patrons in Texas and has taught several local workshops. For years, she has participated in the prestigious Stribling Art Show held in San Angelo.
The registration fee for the class is $325 per person and includes light lunches. Participants should have some level of painting knowledge, whether as a beginner, intermediate, or advanced artist.
