AUSTIN - The City of Austin has filed more court documents against the state’s sanctuary city ban.
Officials went into detail, saying State Bill 4 targets Hispanics and is meant to punish Austin and Travis County.
City officials say the law conflicts with the first and fourth amendments of the Constitution.
“SB 4 is an unconstitutional attempt to make the fear and the harm under the ICE raids part of daily life in Texas,” Austin City Councilman Greg Casar said.
Many other cities, particularly in the state’s metropolitan areas, have joined this lawsuit against the state.
Next, everyone heads to court on June 26 in San Antonio.
