Abilene ISD Gets New Technology

Abilene ISD Gets New Technology

March 3, 2014 -

ABILENE, Texas -- Smart boards for Abilene ISD will be placed in every classroom.

Teachers said the boards help students learn by getting hands on experience.

Teachers from all over the district were asked to try out different smart boards and give feedback on which ones they'd like to see in their own classrooms.

One AISD teacher said the smart boards will allow him to teach students in ways he wasn't able to before.

"A lot of these products allow for instant feedback so you can be working on something and then ask a question and you'll know instantly what the kids are getting and what they're not understanding," said Brandon Carr.

Currently about half of all AISD teachers have smart boards.

Once the district decided on which boards to go with they hope to have them installed in the remaining 600 classrooms by next fall.
