The nation's largest rattlesnake round up is this weekend and to kick it off the Sweetwater Jaycees, held the 56th annual rattlesnake parade.
Hundreds of people came out to enjoy the rattlesnake parade. It features 10 floats, an appearance by Miss Texas and a beauty pageant.
Sweetwater Jaycee Rob Mccann said he is excited to see everyone enjoy time together.
"This is a time when the community gets to come together and build floats and just hang out, said Mccann."
But it wasn't just a float or a beauty queen that drew the little ones out but something a bit sweeter.
Many children we spoke with said they were there for the candy.
The parade is the beauty pageant contestants first introduction to the public.
The 2014 Miss snake charmer pageant gets underway directly after the parade.
Last year's queen said it takes a lot more than beauty to win this crown.
"It's a lot of hard work. You are always representing the Jaycees even if you're not wearing the crown," said Kyndra Vaught, the 2013 Miss Snake Charmer.
The rattlesnake round up starts Friday morning at eight.
