Family Remembers Matthew Scott Augustatd

Posted: Updated:

A neighborhood is quiet tonight...but it wasn't like this just three days ago. family and neighbors remember Matthew Scott Augustatd. A man who his sister Laurie said, had a heart of gold.

She told us Matthew Scott was a free bird having lived in states all over the west coast, including Colorado, California and with her in Arizona.

When he moved back to Abilene his mother Nancy said he took on the role of neighborhood watchman. He looked out for the neighbors homes while they were away.

She told KXVA when a neighbor did not come home one night he said he was going to watch the house until she made it back.

Another neighbor told us a similar story. Family members told KXVA they wish someone was looking out for him.

His mother said that Matthew Scott was assaulted last year. The attack left him with brain injuries. She said that did not stop him from having a positive outlook on life.

One neighbor remembers the friendly person Matthew Scott was.

"Sitting watching and waving that's it..he's just sitting watching and waving," said Lloyd Harrison.

Matthew Scott's mom told us he was an animal lover as well. He brought home a white kitten one day. She told him he could keep it if he took care of it and she said he did.

Now the cat wonders around the home…while family members remember Matthew Scott.

Police are still looking for a man and woman that may know what happen to Matthew Scott. If you have any information you can go to our web site and leave a comment on this story or call the non emergency number for Abilene police.
