Man Arrested for Murder in Suspicious Death Case

Abilene, TX -- Alan B. Deax, 37 has been charged with First Degree Felony murder in connection to Matthew Scott Augustadt's death, which was under investigation for being suspicious last week.

The investigation revealed Deax and Augustadt were involved in a physical altercation on March 10, 2014, which led to the head trauma that later killed Augustadt, 41.

Deax has been identified as the man Abilene Police were searching for, but APD is not disclosing any information on the woman.  Augustadt died Wednesday at Hendrick hospital...after his mother found him injured the evening before. 

According to the press conference by CID on March 13, Augustadt had two fractures to the skull and one of them was fatal. There is no further information yet on how the trauma was received.   

Deax was arrested about 13 miles northwest of Big Lake at an oil rig site, and was taken To Taylor County Jail. 

His bond is set at $250,000.
