The American dream, it's something many people think about but not everyone achieves.
Mezamiz is one of Abilene's first coffee shops started back in 1997.
Nancy Deegan bought the shop in 2006 and although she said it has not always been a cup of coffee it's always been an adventure.
"One Sunday we did a wedding in here and it was fabulous," said Deegan. "We aren't open on Sundays but these people really wanted to get married here, they met here and so I set it up and did that," she said.
While she helped another's dream come true she had someone helping her.
"They were my backers and they supported me," said Deegan. "If I needed anything they would help me with it. I mean my mother was in here helping me paint this when we painted it," she said.
But since then her mom and dad have past they did not get to see the successful business woman her daughter is today. But she said she knows they are looking down on her.
"They would be very proud of me they came all the time," Deegan said.
Deegan said she doesn't like coffee that much but she does like her customers.
She said she hopes they'll allow her to keep making them coffee for many sun rises to come.
