Abilene, TX -- The Blood Mobile for Meek Blood Center is out and about the streets of the Big Country five days a week, aiming to collect 60 pints a day for a total of 17 hospitals within a 100 mile radius.
the needle that injects the most fear, but the cause that makes those who
choose to, give so willingly.
"Several times I've gotten a call that my blood saved somebody's life so that always makes you feel good, that you're helping somebody," said donor Sally Morris.
"Well I'm a college kid and can't give a lot of money, but I can give so mine as well," said donor Alyssa Brown.
Whether you're seasoned professional or still a little nervous, the sting is worth it.
"Oh this is pretty much a regular thing for me, I donate once a year," said Dusty Muller.
"Blood is the basis of everything, to find out a diagnosis, we draw blood, to save lives, we draw blood. That's where my passion lies," explained phlebotomist Micki Black. "Why wouldn't you want to be at the core find out what's going on, or the core of saving lives? I love that, I love it."
