Water Improvement Items Heading to City Council

Abilene, TX -- Changes have been made to the Hargesheimer Water Plant, increasing the volume of water that comes through.

Now the Water Utilities Department wants to take advantage of that increase and make the size of the water lines larger for better distribution.

The department hopes to work with engineers from Jacobs and Martin to design these improvements and also design for the Maple Street Pump Station, to better those delivery capabilities as well.

Voting to approve these contract amendments will happen at city council tomorrow.  Another water item on the agenda for tomorrow is the authorization of the water supply agreement.

Right now, the City currently supplies raw, untreated water to the Abilene Landfill.  According to City Manager Larry Gilley, staff recommends approval for a new contract that would allow the water to continue to be supplied to the landfill for another three year period.

City council takes place tomorrow at 8:30 am.
