Champion for Children Conference Held at Civic Center

Abilene, TX -- More than 400 people gathered at the Civic Center this afternoon for the Champion For Children Conference. 

The committee works to increase the awareness of child abuse with educational seminars and team building activities.  Mayor Norm Archibald and County Judge Downing Bolls spoke at the conference, followed by Keynote Speaker Curtis Clay, the Program Director for the Texas School Safety Center.  Conference Chair Lori Bunton said the Champion For Children Committee is full of dedicated members. 

"They're all invested in making sure children are safe, so knowing that, our passion, in all of us, it's we know it's beyond out job and so we're going to do whatever it takes."

Bunton and two others received community recognition awards today as well for going above and beyond to make sure children are safe and their needs are being met.
