Community Supports Child Abuse Awareness

Community Joins at L.O.C.K. Event to Support Child Abuse Awareness

Abilene, TX -- Members of the community came out today to discuss and raise awareness in the fight against child abuse.

The event is meant to help educate the community about the signs and symptoms of abuse.  Those in attendance were able to place a blue ribbon or padlock on a section of a chain-link fence in support of the victims.

Several major players in our community showed their commitment to the cause by climbing aboard an Abilene fire truck ladder that was raised in the air to signify raising awareness. including City Manager Larry Gilley.

"What's really important to understand is that every one of us has a role when it comes to making sure that our children remain safe under all circumstances," Gilley said. "So every single person can be an active player in making sure that our children remain safe at all times."

The message is to lock in safety for children and lock out child abuse in Abilene and Taylor County.
