Who are you?
- My name is Abby Herrera and I am a Broadcast Director for Fox West Texas. I was born and raised in Hale Center, Texas, which is just outside of Lubbock, Texas. After graduating from Hale Center High School, I moved to San Angelo to continue my education at Angelo State University for Mass Media Communications.
What are your interests?
- I love creating content behind a camera, inside and outside of work. I am a sucker for a beautiful sunset that is worthy of a picture but they are all beautiful so that makes my interest even harder. On my free time, I am usually hanging out with my dog Laker, shopping, or traveling.
What do you like about working at FOX West Texas?
- I enjoy working with the FOX West Texas team because everyone is always motivated and driven to do the best that they can. Being able to countdown and watch our "live" sign light up everyday, is a feeling that I would have trouble trying to explain. My co workers here at Fox West Texas inspire me to reach goals that I didn’t think I could accomplish and I am always striving to put my best foot forward. There is never a dull moment in our newsroom and the diversity we have, collectively makes us all unique in our own way.
What's one thing people would be surprised to learn about you?
- One thing about me that would surprise others is that I enjoy being the helping hand for someone else who is in need. To be able to bring some kind of light into the dark that they may be facing is a strength that not everyone carries. I aspire to be someone that the younger generations can look up to. People would be so surprised to hear that one of these days, I plan to change the world one way or another. Through all of the dark that I personally have experienced, I would be so thrilled to be the light for someone else.
