SAN ANGELO, Texas — West Texas Counseling & Guidance announced the 2020 Shine a Light “Move”ment for Suicide Prevention & Awareness is taking place from now through Sept. 30.

According to a release from the organization, a special virtual event presentation will be held Saturday, Sept. 12.

Shine a Light is an annual event held for families and friends who have lost a loved one to suicide, as well as an opportunity to raise awareness and education for suicide prevention within the community.

This year, a virtual “Move”ment is taking place instead of the honorary Shine a Light memorial walk.

The “Move”ment includes the simple act of moving for 20 minutes, donating $20, and nominating two others to participate to help support zero suicides. Social media is a major component as the organization asks participants to take a photo and share to social media, using the hashtag #2020Shine.

Participants are able to register online in order to receive a complimentary participation medal, as well as purchase a T-shirts, pre-ordered barbecue plates, Shine a Light swag and more.

To register online or for more information, visit wtcg.us/2020shine or call 325-262-0055.

The special event presentation will be held virtually and will include annual traditions, as in reading of names, a reveal of a special art installation and more.
