SAN ANGELO, Texas — UPDATE (7:45 a.m. Nov. 8): Friday's Fill the Boot Campaign drive has been canceled because of weather conditions. Thursday's drive was canceled as well.

A make-up drive will be held and information regarding the rescheduling will be posted as soon as it becomes available.

ORIGINAL STORY: The 2019 MDA Fill the Boot Campaign has unofficially kicked off for the season. Tuesday morning, representatives from the San Angelo Fire Fighters Association and the Muscular Dystrophy Association, gathered at Jim Bass Cars and Trucks to announce the business as the local group's first corporate sponsor.

This year's campaign marks more than 20 years of San Angelo's participation. In 2018, $55,000 was collected for the MDA. Their goal is to continue

"We collect to help those affected," San Angelo firefighter Mason Matthews said.

Tuesday, Jim Bass CEO and President John Bass, kicked the campaign off with a $100 donation and a promise that $100 would be donated to the campaign from every new vehicle sold Saturday. Staffers filed by and dropped cash into the boot as they returned to work.
