Veterans' appreciation ArtWalk Nov. 12

From 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., the Center for Contemporary Arts will host a veterans' appreciation in downtown Abilene

The Center for Contemporary Arts will host a veterans’ appreciation ArtWalk from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., Nov. 12, at 220 Cypress St. in Abilene.  

The event is free and open to the public for anyone who wants to gather around and recognize veterans within the community. 

There will be opportunities for the public and veterans to participate in a painting contest, and the winner will receive a prize. A cake cutting ceremony will be presented for the oldest and youngest veterans in attendance of the event. 

The band Soulmates will play live music from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Arts and crafts vendors will line the street with their booths and display their art to the public. 

The Center for Contemporary Arts gallery, the Grace Museum and the National Center for Children's Illustrated Literature will stay open late and offer free activities for guests.  

Each person will be responsible for social distancing to every booth, hand sanitizer will be available, and health protocols will be in place. 

Masks are required for entering the buildings and strongly encouraged for outside gatherings. 

ArtWalks are mini-festivals every second Thursday of each month with art vendors, activities and much more.
