The importance of human connection: 18 years after 9/11

Iranian-American filmmaker Ladan Yalzadeh was living in New York City on 9/11 and was filled with awe seeing the comfort strangers offered each other.

SEATTLE — Seattle Filmmaker and artist Ladan Yalzadeh is here to talk about how finding commonalities with the people surrounding us can positively impact our lives. She was living in Manhattan when the twin towers fell, and remembers noticing two expressions on people's faces when she walked outside: fear, seeing her as an Iranian-American, and comfort because of the support strangers were offering each other.

On the 10th anniversary of 9/11, Ladan organized a memorial of stillness at the International Fountain in Seattle Center for people to come together in silent thought.
