While some water issues have not subsided, a popular tea room in San Angelo is giving out free water to people in need.

HTeaO is a tea room that opened its doors in San Angelo within the last year and offers more than 20 different flavors of fresh tea. The business is known for providing fresh water in every cup and the company wanted to share its fresh premium water free with the community.

From March 22 to March 26, the company is allowing customers to bring in their own personal containers and get up to five gallons of its premium water. While this is additionally a promotion for the company, it is also to assist residents that have struggled this year with the water crisis and winter storms.

“I know that the city has been struggling with water and the water situation that we went through with contamination because of the blizzard we had. There were all types of different things that hit us at once but were trying to help out in that aspect as much as we can,” Frank Diaz, HTeaO manager, said.

The water crisis might be in the past for some, but many others are still dealing with having to outsource to use clean water.

Just last week, San Angelo Water Utilities Director Allison Strube gave an update to City Council on the water contamination issue in the PaulAnn area. The PaulAnn area is a San Angelo neighborhood surrounding about 7.25 miles of highway, including Old Ballinger Highway and U.S. Highway 277.

“The northern industrial area is still in a do not drink, cook or consume advisory. We estimate that there are 29 residents in this area, and they are being delivered bottled drinking water for those purposes that they can’t use city water for. We believe this is a one-time issue and not a continual or on-going issue,” Strube said.

If you are still in need of water, HTeaO is available with free water for the community until the ending date.
