DPS trooper suffers minor injuries in Thursday morning crash

The Texas Department of Public Safety trooper was taken to a nearby hospital with minor injuries and the driver of the van was treated and released at the scene.

RUNNELS COUNTY, Texas — A Texas Department of Public Safety trooper working routine patrol at US 67 N near the Runnels County line, collided with a 2018 Dodge van Thursday morning.

According to DPS press release, both vehicles were traveling southbound.. The trooper was initiating a U-turn at an improved turnaround to travel northbound on US 67 and failed to see the van passing on the inside lane.

The van struck the trooper's vehicle on the driver's side door. The driver of the van was treated and released at the scene. The trooper was taken by ambulance to Shannon Medical Center with minor injuries.

The investigation is ongoing and no other information was available at the time of the press release.
