“If you don’t have the right key words, you might not even get a second look. It’s not the same as it was five to ten years ago.”

With the influx of technology and competitive growth in San Angelo, applicants have to be on top of their game.

Concho Valley Workforce Solutions said not enough people put in as much time or effort as they should to make their applications and resumes eye-catching – and that lands their resumes in the trash, instead of them landing a job.

Every week, the Workforce Solutions holds a two-part series geared toward helping people.

“We pull out the laptops and put them in front of you. There’s somebody walking through it on the screen and people roaming around the room to help to get your resume built, for it to look professional, to have the right key words and then to post it,” Erin Medley, Workforce Solutions’ project director, said.

Education, healthcare and oil are the job sectors highest in demand in the Concho Valley.

The workforce series takes place on Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays.
