Fort Concho to host inaugural Deck the Stalls event Saturday

Admission will be free and guests can come and go throughout the day.

SAN ANGELO, Texas — Fort Concho National Historic Landmark will host its inaugural Deck the Stalls event from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 19 at the Fort Concho Living History Stables, 236 Henry O Flipper St.

According to a City of San Angelo press release, the event is free to the public and guests can come and go throughout the day. Masks will be required inside the building.

The fort's mules, Betty, Barney and Mac, will welcome guests to the stables where there will be several period wagons and exhibits of various frontier military history topics. Horses, a miniature horse, a goat and other barnyard animals will join the fort's mules.

Linda Hermes, author of the "Hoot and Holler" mule adventure series, will be available to sign her books in the exhibit room, according to the release.
