SAN ANGELO, Texas — Heritage Park of San Angelo’s Christmas in the Park held its second event of the season Sunday. The San Angelo Symphony Guild Ambassadors arrived wearing festive sweaters or hats to sing Christmas Carols.

Members of the San Angelo Symphony Guild start out as Beaux and Belles and become ambassadors once they graduate.

“We started at the end of our sixth-grade year and we continued through junior high and then we actually aged up when we were sophomores in high school and now we are ambassadors instead of the Beaux and Belles,” Natalie Dragt said.

Sunday’s performance was the first time the ambassadors performed at Christmas in the Park.

“We are very excited to be able to do this because everything amidst the pandemic; it’s really separated us from our group and being able to gather that much,” Dragt said.

“With Christmas coming around it’s really exciting to be with our friends and get to do stuff like this and get to carol to the town of San Angelo,” she continued.

In addition to the performance at the park, the ambassadors are also working on a canned food drive.

“It can be any non-perishable food goods and if you would like to be able to donate we’d love for you to drop those off at Elite Physique and we’d like to get as many people involved in this in our community as possible,” Dragt said.

For people who have not seen the Christmas sights throughout San Angelo, Dragt offered this advice, “It’s something that everyone should be involved in and everyone should bring their families to see because it’s absolutely beautiful and a great way to social distance while also having a good time your family and friends.”

While Sunday’s performance may be the only one for this season, the ambassadors have other events coming up in 2021.

According to Slade Moffat, the first event for 2021 will be Winter with a Whirl starting at 7 p.m. Saturday, Jan.23 at the Bentwood Country Club, followed by the gala on March 27, 2021, to be held at the Cactus Hotel.
