L'Auberge set to lay off hundreds at Baton Rouge, Lake Charles locations

In all, the layoffs are expected to affect about 600 employees

LAKE CHARLES, La. — Hundreds of employees at two of L'Auberge Casino Resort's locations in Louisiana are expected to be laid off according to an article from KPLC-TV in Lake Charles. 

The article says L'Auberge told Louisiana's employment agency about the layoff plans, which include 161 jobs at the Baton Rouge location and 441 jobs at its Lake Charles resort.

Those layoffs are set to take place in early August according to the records.

The Lake Charles location reopened on Monday, May 18 after closing in mid-March due to the COVID-19 pandemic. 

Golden Nugget Lake Charles reopened its hotel, pool and restaurants on May 15. Its casino floor also reopened to patrons on May 18.

L'Auberge implemented many new guidelines for guests and employees when it reopened, including limiting table seating. 

In a news release, the company said it would place floor decals and signage around the facility to help remind guests to stay socially distant. 

The reopening plan also included keeping every other slot machine disabled. Limited restaurant offerings were also implemented.
