ABILENE, Texas — The Redbud YMCA of Abilene has raised $3.5 million out of their $4 million goal for renovations.

Expansion plans include a new two-story wellness center.

"Then we'll have a dedicated group X studio and then a remodel of our building part of that would be enhancing our after school services,” said president and CEO, David Hendricks.

The deadline to reach their fundraising goal is this upcoming June. Hendricks said if they reach it, construction may start next January.

"Between the permanent process and construction, we may be looking at an 18-month process, but that's exciting that that could happen that soon,” said Hendricks.

After over 70 years of service, their hope is that this makeover continues to meet the needs of the Abilene community.
